Streator Cayuga Ridge South Wind Power Project
Livingston County, Illinois
Located in Livingston County, Illinois, near the villages of Odell and Emington, the 150 wind turbines at the Streator Cayuga Ridge South Wind Power Project will generate 300 megawatts (MW) of clean, renewable energy and are contributing jobs and tax revenue to the local community. When the project reached commercial operation in March 2010, it was the largest wind project in Illinois.
The project creates American jobs and supports the local economy through lease payments to landowners and tax payments to the county. During construction, the on-site workforce averaged 130 people, and peaked at 450. Contractors and crews from all over Illinois helped build this project.
